Every day, SCCF’s work continues to be guided by our mission: “The conservation of coastal habitats and aquatic resources on Sanibel and Captiva and in the surrounding watershed.”
To share how that works in practice, we always challenge ourselves to ask the question:
What have we done lately?
Well, the short answer is…a lot. We know it’s not enough to look back on our land acquisition history, the work that helped make these islands the nature sanctuary they are today.
The work we do today is as vital and ambitious as the historic achievements that are SCCF’s foundation. You can read about all our current program areas and initiatives in this year's Annual Report. Click here
for a PDF of the Annual Report.
The Annual Report also details the milestones we are celebrating this year. It’s the 45th anniversary of SCCF’s founding. The Nature Center and Native Plant Nursery opened their doors 35 years ago. The Sea Turtle Research and Monitoring has made a safe haven of our beaches for the last 20 annual nesting seasons. Finally, the Marine Research Laboratory has accomplished so much it’s hard to believe we are only celebrating its 10th anniversary.
After looking at the grant monies and other income our staff has secured, and matching funds for those grants generously given by a small group of major donors, we are able to set the remaining FY 2012-2013 Annual Fund Drive goal at $645,000. We count on this support — combined with grants and other income — to balance our budget. Can we count on your support again this year?
